After nine years of being an award-winning Web authoring tool, FrontPage
will be discontinued in late 2006. We will continue to serve the diverse
needs of our existing FrontPage customers with the introduction of three
brand-new application building and Web authoring tools using the latest
technologies: Office SharePoint Designer 2007 for the enterprise information
workers, Expression Web for the professional Web designer, and Visual Studio
2005 for the Web developer.

And what about the serious home user. Seems like we got left out.

Yes, I wondered about that also
Expression Web for the professional Web designer
Visual Studio 2005 for theWeb developer.

Where is the home user?

And what is the difference between the professional Web designer and theWeb
developer, anyway ?

EWis actually easier to use than FP, but you no longer have the FP bots.

A Professional is allowed to overcharge for crappy work, whereas a plain
developer only gets paid minimum wage.

Not left out. Just not targeted by the ad copy. Like any other form of
advertising, there is a target market. The vast majority of people who use
HTML development toolkits are professionals, and Microsoft is competing
against Dreamweaver. Dreamweaver has long enjoyed a reputation as a
"professional" web dev toolkit. Microsoft is merely targeting that very
large audience.

Expression, in fact, is very similar to FrontPage in many ways, and any
hobbyist or "serious home user" will find the transitiaon quite comfortable.
