The HTML code generated in FrontPage 2002 does not validate. Why?

Although I have used FrontPage 2002 for three years, it was only recently
that I learned about online HTML validators. I tried a couple of them and
neither one of them would validate the HTML code generated by FrontPage 2002
!!! It seems kind of wimpy that FrontPage produces weak code that can't pass
a validation process. How can I get the program to automatically generate
HTML code that validates?

Can you post a link to a page where this is the case? We'll see if it's FP
or the operator who is at fault! 8)

What doctype did you author against when creating the pages??

As for validating, the "only" online site I will validate against is w3c.

How can it operator error when Frontpage is designed to be idiot-proof?

Although I admit that I am an idiot, why would not the program be able to
make code that validates?

Here is the first page that I tried to validate:

I started with a blank page and added a background color. And it wouldn't
validate using w3c

The 'errors' on that page are -

1. No doctype - that's true. Depending on which FP version you are using
you can make this happen.

2. No alt attribute on images - that's operator error. FP does not
automatically add these for you. You would have to add them yourself.

3. No use of <nobr> tags. I guess that is put in by FP. Bad FP. Bad,
bad.... 8)
