The Language Bar will not appear

Hello,
I recently purchased Microsoft Office 2003 and decided to play around with the
voice-to-text features. I installed the speech recognition software, trained
it,
configured my microphone, and went into the options and checked the box to
have the language bar appear on the desktop.

It didn't.

Having looked through the help documents, all of which simply tell me to
turn it on (Which I have), I've run out of ideas and have come here for help.

Thank you in advance,
GDwarf

Hi GDwarf,

In Word's Tools menu if you use the 'Speech' choice what is the result?

In the Windows Control Panel use
'Regional and Language settings'=>/Languages\=>Details
what languages is Speech Recognition tied to
and in that dialog if you click the 'Language Bar'
setting is the 'Show the Language Bar on the Desktop'
item checked?

The Office dictation engine has a fairly limited choice of supported languages and regional/dialect choices it works in.
