The memory could not be "read"

My operating system is Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4.
My OS is updated by the update manager, so I have the
latest stuff. I am using Microsoft Word 2000. It worked
fine until last week. My OS crashed and I haven't been
able to run Word since. After starting Word, I get
the "Application Error" box for WINWORD.EXE stating, "The
instruction at 0x30395c27 referenced memory at
0x00000034. The memory could not be read." I have tried
repairing the installation using the CD as well as
uninstalling and reinstalling. This error still
persists. Does someone know what is wrong? I figure it
has to do with a common dll in the system or system32
directory. Any help is appreciated. I use Word every
week to write the bulletins for my church and this will
put a crimp in my work.

I'm not sure exactly what is causing this problem, but I suggest that if you had to reinstall Windows and Office after your OS crash, then you should download and install Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a and Office 2000 Service Pack 3.

I haven't reinstalled Windows 2000. I have uninstalled
Office 2000 and reinstalled. After reinstalling, I
updated Office from the Office update website. I still
have the application error.
