The Message Body Disappeared When It Was Opened

I got a new computer with MS Outlook 2003. I have the Auto Preview feature
turned on so that I can preview the received messages real quick. What
happened with the messages from a couple of contacts was that I could see in
the Preview Pane the first 3 lines of their messages. However, when I clicked
to open the message to read the rest, the message body was blank/gone leaving
behind only the subject and the sender's email. When I closed the open window
and got back to the preview pane, now there was nothing even in the Preview
Pane. Does anybody have any idea what was going on? Thanks a lot for any
response.
