After years of reliable service my copy of Entourage is showing
strange behaviour. When I set up a new entry, the default start and
end dates show the current date, including 2008, but when I try to
save the entry I get a message asking if I want to save an entry for a
date in the past. If I then click on the mini-calendar, it reveals
that it is working with 2001 dates and trying to save my entry with a
2001 date. Even if I use the arrow keys on the mini-calendar to select
a current date or one in the future, I still get the same message when
I try to save. How can one part of Entourage show the correct year and
another part be six years out? I've rebuilt the database and even
deleted it and replaced with one that is working properly on another
copy of Entourage on my laptop. In desperation I have also completely
deleted all of Micorsoft Office and all the related preference files
and reinstalled, but still I get the same strange behaviour. If I boot
from a backup drive that was backed up when Entourage was functioning
correctly, I still get the same problem. If I open Word and use the
command to insert the date in a document, it enters the correct date.
A Mac problem? - I don't think so because Apple's i'Cal is working
proplery and the date at the top of the screen is correct (and has
been reset just to be sure). It shouldn't be a problem with the
onboard battery because this MacPro is less than a year old and the
time and date is correct in all other applications. The Mac has got a
clean bill of health from Disc utility and from the Unix fsck command.
I'm running this on a Mac Pro using OS 10.5.1 and Entourage 10.3.6 -
which seems to be the current version. Does anyone have a solution for
me?
