The Office Assistant could not be started.

I have two freshly installed XP Pro SP2 Boxes that keep getting this error
when opening Word.

"The Office Assistant could not be started. Please repair the Assistant by
running Office 2000 setup and selecting Repair Office 2000."

I have tried to repair, reinstall and have followed the virtual memory fix
(which really applies to 98 anyway) described in the Microsoft KB article on
this error.

Any resistance to Microsoft is futile but assistance with their products
would be greatly appreciated.

Is more than one version of Office installed? If no, then see
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=217440 "You receive error messages
when you start Office 2000 programs".
