The Office Task Bar should be added to Office 2003.

It sucks without it. I am a sales professional that uses Outlook Contacts
and Journal Entries constantly. The way XP puts everything in the system
tray and overlaps running program windows it is twice as many clicks to get
the same thing done that used to take only a few clicks. I had add a contact
and journal entries in my Task Bar and it was easy to point click and add
contacts while on the phone rather than having to look for outlook, open
contacts and then scroll all the way to the top to click the new button to
start entering information. Leaving this functionality out really hurts. I
have already seen a decrease in the number of calls and contacts I can add as
a result of this deletion from Office 2003. None of the added items compare
with the deletion of this important tool.

Sincerely;

If you still own Office 97, Office 2000, or Office XP, you can install
the Office Shortcut Bar from that.

Thanks for the idea. I have a new laptop that I bought 5 days ago. I have a
Microsoft office 2000 upgrade CD which I purchased to load on my previous
machine that came standard with Wordperfect on it. Now this new machine
doesn't have Wordperfect on it so it won't install. So this machine came
with a 30 day trial for the Office Suite and I started using it only to find
out that the task bar is gone. Any work arounds to this one??????

When the Office 2000 installation program prompts you for a qualifying
product, insert the WordPerfect CD, browse to it, let the installer
program "see" it, and then continue with the Office 2000 installation.
If you no longer have the qualifying product, then you also no longer
have a license to use the upgrade version of Office 2000.

Thanks Garfield-n-odie;

I think I have the Wordperfect CD still so I might try that. I didn't
realize that I could swap out the install CD to check for another program.

This does seem like a bit of a pain. I wish Microsoft just left the Task
bar included with Office. I am now getting accustomed to using the 2003
version so I will try and put the task bar on this weekend. I will let you
know if it works.

You probably know this already, but I'll say it just in case... you want
to choose a "custom" installation of Office 2000, and only install the
Office Shortcut Bar from the "Office Tools" category.
