The Office Update Catalog cannot be displayed

I cannot get Office Update to work on one of my computers. When
I go to the Office Update site I click on Check For Updates and the scan
progress bar goes across the screen completely to 1005 and then displys this
message:

The Office Update Catalog cannot be displayed

The Office Update site is currently experiencing some technical
difficulties and is unable to check for updates.

Click the Try Again link below to try loading the site again (do not
use the Refresh button on your browser to reload the site).

If problems persist, please contact Microsoft Support for assistance.
You can also search for Office updates in the Download Catalog.

I know the site is not experiencing difficulties because I can access it
from my other 2 computers using the same Internet connection.

Has anyone else seen this error and know what is going on?

For this type of problem, try this :

It appears that the office update site requires the latest version of the
Microsoft Windows Script 5.6 ( version 5.6.0.8825 ) while the one currently
on your system maybe an earlier version or corrupted.

Download this from:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/8/a/28a5a346-1be1-4049-b554-3bc5f3174353/scripten.exe

After installing the above, go back to the office update site and check."
