The page position

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

When I first opened a Word document, the page was not centered on the computer screen, but was all the way to the left. Somehow I managed to center it; I don't remember how. Then I opened a new document; again the page is all the way to the left. Also, when I open my first document, it's also all the way to the left. What can I do so that documents will open centered on the display screen?
