The paste feature in Office ClipBoard is not working. Any fix?

The paste feature in ClipBoard is not working. I have Word 2003 as part of
Office 2003 and have XP Professional as my operating system. Although I can
copy and add items to the ClipBoard, when I try to paste them to a document,
it won't work. Any fixes?

Suzanne,

I am also having cut and paste issues. When I paste anything into any
office application, the screenshot of the screen I'm pasting into is actually
pasted rather than the item I copied. I have removed office, removed the
office folder from program files and reinstalled. I have created a new user.
Nothing fixes this problem. Apparently, the problem occurs when switching
between office applications after a copy. The clipboard hangs at 9 out of 24
and all the items in the clipboard are screencaptures. The clipboard will
not delete all items.

This issue started in June. I suspect a security patch caused it.

Interesting... I am having an issue copying text or image from publisher to a
second publication it attempts and fails to paste. If you try to paste again
the option is no longer available. You can however copy from Publisher to
Word or other application and it works as usual. Checked clipbrd.exe and see
the item copy to the clipboard no problem, and after attempting to paste it
remains there. Even after trying to paste to a second publication and the
paste option becomes no longer available in that publication, it does work in
the first publication where you copied from?

I have had the same problem with the paste function on the clipboard not
working, and it started after i was copying from Publisher and pasting to
Word. Do you know of any fix for this.

Nothing happens when i click on the drop-down "paste" from the clipboard, and
nothing happens when I click on the item in clipboard. The drop-down "delete"
still functions and the "clear all" still functions, but the "paste all" does
not function.

Yes, I can paste (using Ctrl+V), but only the last item that was saved to the
clipboard. I am unable to paste any of the other items copied to the
clipboard. I can however delete the other items and the "clear all" button
also works. The "paste all" button does not work.

I don't really have any experience using the Office Clipboard, and I can't
find any KB articles that address this issue (though there are others about
the Clipboard failing to copy or refusing to be cleared), and Google doesn't
immediately turn up anything helpful. Have you tried repairing Office?

I have occasionally seen problems with the Office Clipboard and never
resolved them fully. Some things to try/check:

You say nothing happens when you try to paste. Is the paste option greyed
out, or just ineffective?

Do you see a preview of the clipboard item(s) - or just an icon?

If you delete delete the topmost item so that the second rises to the top,
can you then paste that item successfully?

Do you have any other software installed which attempts to operate on the
clipboard? Some windows utilities can interfere with the Office clipboard.

Make sure that your temp folder is completely empty of abandoned temp files.
With all applications closed, it should be empty. You may need to reboot
your computer first, but then delete all the files before opening any
applications or utilities.

The usual location for temp files is is Documents and Settings, Username,
Local Settings, Temp.
