The picture does next exit picture mode

I am attempting to edit a picture. The picture stays in the document and it
enters edit picture mode, from but there seems to be no way to exit the edit
picture mode. I'm using MS Word 2002.

This is Word's picture editor? If you look in the File menu is there an entry
that reads something like "Close document and return to Word"?
