The printer has not responsded

I am having this issue only in Word 2003. When I go to print, the program
takes a while, then the message "The printer has not responded.

The default printer does not show up in the print window.

Yes the printer is set as the default printer. I can print a test page.
I can print from Excel, and other programs. It is only Word where this
occurs.

I have uninstalled print drivers and reinstalled, still same result.
Same with Word, uninstalled and reinstalled.

Does any one have any thoughts or solutions.
Thanks.

Hi SM. You have landed in the Macintosh Word newsgroup. We have enough
problems with printers of our own, but all the solutions will be
different.

It seems one or more of the Microsoft help pages are a bit confusing.
You are not the first to blunder into here by mistake. Oh No!

Try starting at this url:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/FlyoutOverview.mspx
It is a horrible webby thing, not pleasant to navigate at all, but it
seems to be the best place we can suggest.

If it is all too much, there are a couple of AC/DC Office users in
here. Hang about. You might get some more useful answer than this one.

Yep: Replace your Normal template. When you uninstall/reinstall, existing
files are not replaced. And it's the existing files, not the program, that
is usually causing the problem.

Word stores the last few printers used in both each document, the Normal
template, and the registry.

If the Normal template corrupts, Word is pointing at an unavailable printer.

Hope this helps
