the ribbon used to have communication history and now that is gone

I am a new user and put many contacts in. I ws able to add notes with the
date and time stamp and now all of that is gone. Please help! Also my
laptop keeps crashing and it says Business Contact Manager could not complete
your last action or actions. Thanks!
