I'm encountering this problem using Project Server 2003, Project
Web, on Windows XP. I've been using Project 2003
Professional as a client without incident. All of a sudden I can
not open any enterprise projects from the server.

When I try to OPEN a project it CHECKS IT OUT and then displays "The
selected project(s) could not be opened in Project. "

Where are you taking this action from? The web interface or Project itself?
If it's the former, the most typical cause is that the URL you used in the
Project Server account for connecting Project Pro to Project Server is
different than the URL you're using to call PWA in the browser.

After weeks of suffering the problem was finally figured it out ...

It was one of the most obvious .. I downloaded MS Office Project Prof 2003
Service PACK 2 and the problem was corrected.
