Hello Project Server experts. My Server administrator is installing Project
Server today and I am supposed to give him assistance in case he runs into
any problems with the Project Server install. We are not using Sharepoint
Services, just Project Server and Analysis Services. While he was installing
the Project Server database, he got an error that stated, "The server you
entered is not responding. check that the name is valid and try again." He
entered a real local server name and it did not work. What could be the
problem? What should he do differently?

Found the solution to my problem. SQL Server was in only Windows
Authentication mode, and I was supposed to set it in Sql Server/Windows
Authentication mode since I was using SQL Server authentication. After
clicking that setting in SQL Server and then restarting SQL Server, it
worked. Go figure, the hardest problems have the simplest solutions.
