The $ Shortcut Button

This button currently changes your numbers into an
accounting style. Is there anyway I can alter this so it
refers to the currency style?

Robert,

Yes, you can change that button. If you "hover" your
mouse over that button you'll notice that it
says "Currency Style". If you choose, Format -> Style
from the menu, you can change the number format of
the "Currency" style. Then your button will adopt that
new number format.

I posted this yesterday in .misc (but it never showed up in google):

Currency Style has an Accounting NumberFormat
Accounting Style doesn't really exist.

You can modify styles by Format|Styles|click on your favorite and modify to
match the format you like.

But if you change your style in one workbook, it won't affect any other. But if
you use that workbook as a template for your next workbook, that next workbook
will inherit your modified styles.

This might be useful to you.

If you have book.xlt in your XLStart folder, open it to edit it. If you don't,
then start a new workbook.

Format|Style and modify the heck out of Currency Style.

Save this workbook into your XLStart folder.

Now any workbook that you start will inherit this style from your default
workbook template. (This won't help all the other workbooks that you already
created, though.)

But if you really want, you can modify one workbook and merge that modified
style into any existing workbook.

Open both workbooks. Activate the workbook that you want to fix up.
Format|Styles|Merge. You'll be prompted for what workbook and to reuse the
style names.)

If you don't bother with the merging stuff, I'd at least think about fixing
book.xlt to match what you want.
