Frustrated Office/Vista User

When I double click on a Word or Excel (Office 2007 SP1) document, I receive
the error: "The specified procedure could not be found". I can open the doc
from within Word but cannot by trying to access from the icon or from within
an attachment in Outlook. I have attempted to reassociate the file type,
'repair' and even reinstalled (twice) Office. Nothing fixes this problem.
Even tried creating a new user to see if it was a 'profile' issue. Nothing
worked. BTW, running Vista Home Premium SP1.
