The TCP/IP connection was unexpectedly terminated by your mail server

USING: Outlook 2000 sp3 on Win 2000 OS sp4

Hi,
When I switch fom a dialup connection to a local LAN
connection (T1 internet) I can receive emails but can no
longer send emails. I recieve the following errror after
pressing the Send/Recieve button: "The TCP/IP connection
was unexpectedly terminated by your mail server".
If I re-connect via dial-up, email sends and receives
properly.

I have tried different Outgoing Mail (SMTP) providers but
the problem remains. Any ideas would be greatly
appreciated.
