The text I'm typing in WORD is underlined with a dotted line.

This started suddenly (I don't know what I did to make it happen.) What does this mean? I would really like to know.

Well, "THIS" means that this is where you should type a QUESTION if you want
an answer.

The "SUBJECT" should be the subject your question is about (so you attract
the correct kind of expert who will actually know the answer to your
question). But you need to ask the question down here, not up there.

The dotted lines mean various things, depending on the colour and style.
See the help topic "I see wavy red or green underlines in a document".
Black means the text is hidden (non-printing) purple is a Smart Tag and blue
is an auto-correct.
