the toolbars in Word keep hiding the top of my document

I'm using MS Word 2004 in Mac OS X, and whenever I open a document (new or
old) lately it opens underneath the toolbars so I can't move the document
around and the buttons for closing or minimizing the document are
inaccessible because they're covered by the toolbars. It just started doing
this, so I'm thinking I must have accidently hit a keystroke or something,
but I can't for the life of me figure out how to fix it. Any thoughts would
be greatly appreciated.

Hi--

If the toolbars are docked, then Word will manage the document location
properly. So you need to float the toolbars around and let them sink
into a "sweet spot" which will dock them. Sorry, I know this makes no
sense--it should when you do it. As you hit a sweet spot, the document
should jump out of the way into the right position. Once you get it
set, Word should remember it for a while.

By the way, there is a Mac Word group, which may be better to post in,
especially if you have further questions on this. This is a relatively
common problem over there. This group gets a lot of traffic and
Mac-specific questions can easily be missed by the few Mac users who
post here.

First of all you've posted to the wrong group - this one is for PC Word.
There is a separate one for Mac: microsoft.public.mac.office.word - just for
future reference you'll usually get a faster response there :)

In the meantime, make sure your toolbars are actually "docked" at the bottom
edge of the Menu Bar. Drag them away, then drag one back upt until it
'snaps' in place. Butt the next one directly beneath that one so that it
locks to the bottom edge of the one above.

If this doesn't resolve it, post to the Mac Word group for more assistance.

Thank you! Your advice solved the problem. Sorry for posting in the wrong
group, but thanks for letting me know wehre I should go.

It worked! Thanks for your help--it save me from much frustration. I've
bookmarked the Mac page for future reference. Thanks.
