The ubiquitous 3170 "Couldn't find installable ISAM" runtime error

I have a VB6 SP2 application that suddenly fails to compile. I get the
subject error message when attempting to do a Data Control refresh. I'm
using Access 2003. Most existing posts address Access 97, 2.0 and/or 4.0.
I'm at a loss, and at my wits end. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Correction...the application does compile, without error, the subject error
occurs at runtime.
