The Word 2003 window dissapears!

When opening Word from a shortcut, start menu or by clicking of a wordfile
directly the program opens (I think) and the Word icon appears on the
taskbar at the bottom of the screen (XP media).

The splash screen starts but immediately dissapears off of the top left hand
corner of the screen.

By right-clicking the taskbar word symbol I can maximise, minimise and
restore but all that happens is I get a flash of the window appearing or
disappearing to or from the left hand edge of the screen.

I have been using the above on a high spec new laptop with no problem for
some weeks. No new programs have been loaded.

All other Office 2003 programs (Excel, Outlook are the ones I use) run fine.

Have repaired the program from disc and also reloaded the program and the
whole suite to no avail.

I'm stuck.

Open any other window, then right-click on an empty area of the Taskbar and
choose Cascade. This should bring the Word window back in view. Use the
mouse to move and size it to your preference (and to "set" its position),
then quit Word. When you restart Word, the window should be where you left
it.

Thank you for trying but I'm afraid it doesn't work.
Cycled through the process a couple of times clicking cascade and then undo
cascade to no avail.
Any other suggestions?

Thanky you

So what happens when you open 2 windows (one must be Word), right-click in
the Taskbar and choose Cascade?
