Thesaurus crashes Word

Ok,
when ever i use the Thesaurus function in MS Word, it will freeze and the
eventually after several minutes word will close and i am asked to send an
error report. the thesauruses is displayed and i can select a word to
replace the selected one with a word suggested. but after this word will
freeze and the
eventually close without an option to save. This is a major inconvenience.
anyone got any ideas how i can stop this?

Word/Windows versions? Do you have all service packs applied? Which language
thesaurus?

ok i am using Win XP, MS Office XP and i have SP1 for windows, English
language for my thesaurus
