Thesaurus Find Function

Q

Qaspec

Is there a way to create a function that can allow a user to enter a word for
search and if there is no match for that word it will search the thesaurus to
bring back a list of where the synonyms reside in the workbook?

Not quite sure what you are after.
However, Excel does not include any kind of built-in Thesaurus feature.

Maybe the free trial of my commercial XL add-in... "Thesaurus for Excel" will be of some help.

I was referring the thesaurus you can use by going to "Tools >
Research>>Thesaurus:English

I want to know if i can use that research reference to supply and find
alternates to words that users search for.

Example: User uses Find (or some user defined function) to locate the word
shake inside the workbook. The word shake doesn't exist in the workbook but
vibrate does. I'd like to create a function that if no match exists for the
original word, the Research Reference Thesaurus English is opened and all
possible alternatives for the original word are automatically searched for by
Excel. So for my example the function would be able to locate vibrate
anywhere in the workbook even though the user searched for shake.

It would take a something like a combination of my Thesaurus for Excel and
Find and List programs to achieve that. A major programming endeavor.
