thesaurus function stopped working

About a week ago, my thesaurus function in Office/Word 2004 11.2.3
decided to stop working. Now, when I highlight a word and select Tools
--> Thesaurus (or when I enter the word manually in the top field of
the open "Reference Tools" window), nothing comes up in the "Meanings"
or "Synonyms" fields. The referenced word remains in the top field,
but no amount of clicking "Go" will make it... go. The "Look Up"
button at the bottom remains grayed out -- I can't click on that at
all.

I've tried this with several documents (created in the same app,
different times), and nothing seems to work.

The Dictionary feature still works just fine.

I am running OS 10.4.4, and I haven't updated that or my Office
software recently.

Any suggestions?

(and yes, the words I'm entering are spelled correctly and definitely
have synonyms!)

I also just found a similar posting dated a couple of months ago (22
March 2006). It doesn't appear that a solution was found for that
person, though...

Hi,

Is your Thesaurus file in your Microsoft Office 2004/Shared
Applications/Proofing Tools folder, the file is called English Thesaurus (or
UK Thesaurus) depending on what language you are using. One other thing,
what language is the document set to? If you go to Tools/Language and set
the Language to English (US) do you still have this problem with the
Thesaurus?

Thanks.

Hi,
I've got It! I have check the language it's set to EN-UK, I also have the
approriate thesaurus installed.
The issue is when I have set Czech in system pref. international, the
thesaurus doesn'tworking when I have changed it to EN it strated working.
The word document spelling still being set to EN-UK.

There might be some issue concerning the system and Office language setting
As I cannot get decimal point separator in Excel even if set EN in
intrnational in system pref. My num keybord uses dot in Word, Textedit,
Entourage but still use comma in Excel.
W:11.2 (060202)
System:10.4.6
Hope this will help to solve the issue.
