THESAURUS WON'T OPEN and other problems

I recently re-installed Office X for Mac and then upgraded to the most
recent Security Update 10.1.6. on my Powerbook G4.I am now having
serious problems with Word!!!

1) I click on Thesaurus and nothing happens!!! What do I do??
2) My docs suddenly are transformed by all sorts of strange formatting
which doesn't even appear when I look at the Reveal Formatting. For
example, I get a red strikethrough all through the document. I can't
get rid of it and I can't understand where it is coming from?
3) And finall my Spelling Languages will not swtich out of the US
English Version. They never did before either, but I hoped the update
would change things...I need to spell check in French and no matter
what I do, nothing works...

I suspect that you reinstalled Office without first removing the old
installation. That could explain all sorts of problems. I recommend that
you properly remove and reinstall Office. Follow the instructions here:
