Hello,

Just a quick question, in order to center a webpage i have moved somethings
outside of the page boarder, is that a problem? until now i havent seen any
problem but i want to be sure.

It is in this page: http://www.aeroporika.gr/index_booknow.htm the big
picture on the top has been moved about 2cm out of the right boarder and also
the "greek flag link" is out..

also in this page: aeroporika.gr/index_partners.htm

Thanks a lot

The simple fix to center pages using publisher 2007
Create your web pages
Publish to your hard drive
Edit the htm file and replace <head> with

</head><table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="2"
width="760"align="center"><tr><td>

If you are using a page width different than 760 pixels change that number
in the above line

If you have multiple pages you might want to look at
http://www.emurasoft.com/replall/ a simple replace lines in multiple htm
files

Then ftp the files to your ISP

Hi Panos,

As a general rule you should keep all the design elements on the page and
not allow them to overlap into the scratch area...or as you put it, outside
the page border. Publisher can choke and freeze up when you try to convert
your Publisher pages to html when you Publish to the Web, and you can end
up with some unpredictable effects if it doesn't freeze. You might be able
to get away with it occasionally, but it is bad practice.

I don't know if you will be able to replicate this but after clicking on
your link:
http://www.aeroporika.gr/index_booknow.htm and allowing that page to load in
your browser, scroll down to where you have the four links to Home, Air
travel partners, hotels and Contact...and click on the Home link. I get two
of your banners loading on the resulting page...one left justified and one
offset to the right as you intended.

If you want to center the pages I think it is best to follow Spike's
suggestion and edit the code to center the whole page. Using replace in
files, it is a quick semiautomatic process once you get it set up.

Thank you for your answers,

I cannot use this method described to center my page because in the page i
mentioned i use an iframe for the search box that is centered on the page
where i have place it ( index_booknow.htm page ) so imagine that the iframe
has width 830 Pixels and my webpage width 820 pixels, so if i center the
whole page the box will be too much on the right. Actually that was and the
reason that i decided to move the top logo picture outside the boarder, in
order to be centered with the search box.

David thanks for the comment about the bottom home page link, the reason for
the problem is that itis part of the footer of the iframe page and it is not
in my webpage. So when you click there it load the destination URL
aeroporika.gr but inside the iframe so there are the two logos. That will be
hard to solve it...If anyone who knows from codes know how can i make a link
that is part of an iframe to load a page without the iframe i would
appreciate much his help.

Thanks a lot

Ok i fixed the problem, for anyone who may have the same problem with iframe
the solution is very simple, the only you need is to add the attribute
target="new" in the link that you want to be opened in a new window ( outside
the iframe )

Not any answer needed anymore for this post. Thank you for your support.

Best regards

I am having a similiar problem but my problem is with the length of the page.
One of my webpages is long and it goes into the blue border at the bottom,
not the sides. Is the length of a web page limited?

Except for Pub 2002, each version of Publisher is designed to truncate a
page after the last design element on a page when you produce the web page,
thereby giving you the option of custom length pages. Pub 2002 produces
fixed length pages, but all the other versions produce whatever length page
you want.

If you want further assistance trouble shooting your issue, please either
post a new question, or at least provide a link to the page where you are
having the problem, details of the problem and which version of Publisher
you are using.

Dan,

I loaded that page in both IE and FF and perhaps it is not the page where
you are having the problem?

The page background is white from top to bottom, and the page is truncated
immediately below the "JD WATERLOO BOY HOOK HITCH 1960's".

Perhaps try Ctrl +F5 when viewing the web page, and see if a new refreshed
version has the same problem.

Are you perhaps talking about the Publisher page rather than the web page?
Are you saying that the page content is longer than the page length, and
extends into the scratch area below the page? I see the scratch area as
gray, but suppose it does have a blue tint to it. If so, you can lengthen
the pages in your publication...

Yes I was referring to the publisher page. Sorry about my confusion. I will
attempt to lengthen the page and stay out of the grey area
Thanks for your help.

No problem.

Just go to File > Page setup and choose Custom and you can change the length
of the page to whatever length you want. This will result in the content of
your page shifting...probably shifting down on the page. If you scroll to
the bottom of your content and click on the page, then Ctrl + A this will
select everything on the page, then click the grouping icon (this looks like
two boxes) that appears at the bottom most design element and this will
group everything together. Now hold down your shift key and drag all the
content up to the top of your new page, and ungroup after you have the page
contents where you want them. Note that every page in your publication will
be lengthened and the content repositioned so be sure to make your new pages
long enough for the future so you don't have to do this again.
