Third question of three: Instant Search popup in Outlook 12 (2007

When opening Outlook 2007 beta I also receive another popup:

"To enable the Instant Search feature in Outlook 12, you must download an
update to Windows Desktop Search"

When I click Download the page indicates this is no longer available. So
what gives?

Sue,

Have you tried that link recently. It didn't work for me. But installing
the Technical Refresh office2007 beta, seemed to do the trick. The link
worked and I did install the desk search program tho' I really don't think I
will ever use this program.

Worked here. You can always go to http://microsoft.com and search for the KB article number (917013) as well.

Hi Sue and Hook, Can either of you let me know why after installing the B2TR
update of Outlook 2007 and downloading the Instant Search to enable the
program (which I'd done prior to B2TR) I still see the Instant Search popup
requesting that I download the program. I have checked to see if instant
Search works...it does...sometimes slowly but every search request it seems
to find.

I'm just trying to find out how to get rid of the popup requesting that I
get something that it seems was successfully installed.

I use a download manager (IDM) to download my programs.

Thanks for your time.

Maybe a dumb question, but after downloading WDS, did you actually install it? In other words, do you see the Indexing Options applet in Control Panel and the WDS Search Desktop box in the Windows task bar?

Thanks for your question Sue,

Just after posting the question I attempted to look again at downloading the
program. I then realised that what I'd done - download the original Instant
Search program, not the update. The idea came to me after I remembered my
download manager asked if I wanted to download a file that was already
downloaded and I'd read a blog about having to download a new program.

After the last download I did see the WDS search engine in the task bar and
everything is working well.

The only thing I would add here is that after installing the program I had
to dig around (go through a few links in the program) to find some way of
seeing that the indexing was being performed and when it would be completed.

Once again, thanks Sue.
