Does anyone know how to turn this off. It just started showing up after I bought and installed and have used Word 2008 for about a month.

I need the exact wording of the error message to be sure, plus a description
of what you are trying to do and on what type of Computer.

However, it may be that you have a protected document.

Have a look on the Tools menu. You will find either a "Protect document..."
or an "Unprotect document" item. If its the latter, that's your problem,
the document is protected. Choose that item to unprotect it.

I guess it's remotely possible that the document is a master document.
Could it be? If it is, and it was created by another user, this is normal
behaviour until you unlock the subdocuments.

Hope this helps
