Follow me, there's a connecting point with MSP.
We are using MS Exchange in our university and I'm trying to find a way to
have a list of always used folders on the network in the left panel and the
standard outlook view on the right, i.e. inbox content on the top panel and
the message text in the bottom panel.
In our department, we manage R&D project and we receive quite a bit of
e-mail on many projects. We tend to create folders in our PST but the memory
allocation is always busted. It's practical because we just drag & drop the
jest received e-mail in the left folder with it's appropriate structure and
when we want to go back to a project e-mail, we just click the appropriate
folder and instantly have all the e-mail messages.
By putting the network structure instead of the PST file, this will serve 2
objectives : archiving on the network which we have to do anyway and 2nd
quick access to e-mail history on a project.
NOW, I'm implementing a PMO at the same time and I thought that by dragging
an e-mail from my inbox to the project directory on the network, a popup
window would appear asking me to which project and activity would I put the
link to that e-mail in the main Project Center in MSP ?
Does that makes sense ? This way of doing things would put to rest 2
software we use here and concentrate all of our activities on a MSP CRM
connected platform.
I'm afraid it's just a dream... but can it be done ? If yes, then maybe we
can ask for MS MVPs or Certified partners to work on our case.
