I have Microsoft Office 2007.I keep getting the message this modificiation is
not allowed because the selection is locked when I try to type anything in. I
put in my product key and accepted it. It's not a read only version. I'm
wondering if it's a protected document but it doesn't ask me for a password.
I'm not sure if my toolbars are locked because a lot of my icons are
appearing grey. I tried enabling the forms toolbar by going to the Office
Button/Word Options but it wont allow me to click on the Popular button.
Please help I have tried everything and I am frustrated and I don't even know
if that is the problem.

You may have entered the product key but that's not the end of the process.
Did you activate the product? (In Word for example to Office Button-Word
Options-Resources-Activate Microsoft Office)
