I am getting the following message:
"This operation requries the merged cells to be
identically sized."

However nothing was merged. Any ideas and/or work arounds?

One are more cells are merged, else you would not get the warning. Select
all and Format>Cells>Alignment tab>Uncheck the Merge Cells box>OK

PSS: 176838 refers to this. When you try to PASTE SPECIAL VALUES from a merged cell to another merged cell even of the same size, it won't work (with Office XP and Office 2003). The workaround is to PASTE SPECIAL VALUES to a single cell and then merge it with adjacent cells after the paste operation.
