"This section cannot be located"

When I click "Other notes" tab, I get the message "This section cannot be
located, the server may be busy, blah, blah, blah."

This is on my stand-alone laptop. No network involved.

Does the icon for that tab contain a "shortcut" arrow icon?

If you browse your "My Notebook" folder in Explorer, can you find the
"Other Notes" section in there? If you can, and it is a shortcut icon, can
you look at the shortcut's properties to find out its real location?

Or use Explorer to find all files named "Other Notes".

I'll wager that the real "Other Notes" section isn't in the same place as
OneNote expects it to be.

Yes, all four items (Journal, Research, Shopping & Side Notes) are shortcuts
referring to my “D†drive, which is my CD/DVD drive. An Explorer search for
“Other Notes†produced only these shortcuts. I reinstalled Onenote but got
the same result.

If the shortcuts refer to files which are located on a removable drive,
then the error message is probably expected.

If the files were originally ona non-removable drive, and the drive
letters have changed, the simplest solution is to find the files on the
old hard drive (at whatever drive letter it has now), then copy the
sections into your "My Notebook" folder and then delete the shortcuts.

There's also the "gotcha" when trying to use files from/to a CD backup, and
that is the files on the CD are recorded as "read only" so they can't
generally be altered without changing the attributes of each file before
attempting to edit.

This is a new install of Onenote on a recently formatted drive so the files
can be nowhere else. Can I download them somewhere?
