Threaded Discussion

Is there any way in Outlook or through a third-party app that works with
Outlook through which people in the organization can have a threaded
discussion without emails flying back and forth and certain 'reply to alls'
coming at the same time as others so that all comments can be tracked?

Posting in a Public Folder is an option when you run Exchange.

Public Folders are extremely handy. The trick is getting people to actually
use it...
something which the Outlook UI does not make very convenient or attractive
unfortunately.

I heard somewhere that the next version of Exchange will all but drop
support for Public Folders (more likely bury it deeper in the UI).

In terms of functionality, SharePoint is suppossed to be its replacement.
Sigh.

Nothing to stop you installing one of the third-party News reading add-ins
for Outlook and then running your own internal news server.......
