Thumbnail links

I have switched from Publisher 97 to 2003 and am having some difficulties.
The main problem I am having is when I am making up my website I am using
thumbnails and adding a hyperlink, I am hyperlinking to a picture or file on
my hardrive. When I publish my website all looks good but when I click on the
thumbnail nothing happens and on the bottom of my page the address that shows
is still pointing to the file on my hard drive. This never happened to me
with 97, and I am having trouble figuring it out.

When I publish my site to the web, it brings those pictures along in the
folder but does not change the link designation to the files now loaded on
the web, just stays with the one linking to my hard drive. I have tried it
with and without using the subfolder when I save the site.

Any help would be most excellent.

Thanks,
Jim

Thanks for the quick reply, so let me get this straight, with this version of
Publisher I should upload a file folder with all of my pictures etc. onto the
web and link to them there? I might be wrong but when I uploaded my site I
thought I saw all of those pictures that I linked to on my hard drive go with
the rest of the files onto my web site.

I am confused, is there any reason that Publisher 2003 is better than 2000?
I think I liked the way 2000 worked, or at least I was used to it.

Please let me know if what I need to do is upload a folder to my website
that I can then link too, I didn't understand the answer in the faq's.

Thanks,
Jim

Through version 2000 Publisher would copy external files (a file outside of
what Publisher creates) to it's web site folder.

As of the 2002 version Publisher no longer does that. It is up to you to
upload any external files (this is on the FAQ -
http://www.publishermvps.com/Default.aspx?tabid=30 ) and then link to the
files URL.

If you reviewed this forum you'd learn that I do find 2000 better suited for
an internet site then it's younger siblings.

ANY file that you want to link to from your Publisher 2002/2003 web page you
must first upload to your server. Any folder structure is up to you, you can
just use the root directory. You just need to know the files URL of where
you put it, for example....
www.mydomain.com/myimagefolder/myhappyface.jpg
This is called an absolute link (URL), it completely states the path to the
file.
In the hyperlink dialog you then set the link to the URL.
