Hi,
I use FP2003. I have a big website with at least 800 photos across 40 pages.
99 percent of them are in thumbnail form, and I don't try to set the size of
those thumbnails, even though they vary in size. However, I want to set up
1-3 pages as a special gallery of art by my customers, and I want the
thumbnails on those pages to be a predetermined, larger but uniform size,
say, 200 x 200 pixels. These thumbnails will be set into a table format with
room for links to the artists' web addresses. And I want the thumbnails to
hyperlink to larger photos (say 600 x 600 pixels) when clicked.
I have tried to set the thumbnail size using the directions on page 286 of
Microsoft's FP2003 Inside Out book: Add the full-sized picture to the page.
Open Picture Properties, Appearance, and set size. Click General tab and copy
the URL of the full-sized picture from the Picture Box and paste it into the
default hyperlink location box. Click OK, close box, and with the picture
still selected, click the resample button on the Pictures toolbar. Save the
page, and when the Save Embedded Files dialog box appears, be sure to rename
the thumbnail.
I have followed these directions as best I can. When I change the picture
properties box as instructed, my original large picture shrinks down to 200 x
200. When I hit resample, I now get a hyperlink from my 200 x 200 thumbnail
to---a shrunken, 200 x 200 image, not my 600 x 600 image. I can't figure out
how to set the thumbnails ON JUST ONE PAGE, NOT EVERYWHERE, to 200 x 200
while leaving the original photos (to which the thumbnails will link) at
their original size.
If you can tell me where I'm going wrong, or provide a better way of doing
this that will not seriously slow down the loading of these gallery pages, I
would sure appreciate it. Step-by-step instructions would be wonderful!
Thanks!
