tick marks on Excel plots don't copy into Word documents.

The axis tick marks on plots made in Excel 2004 for Mac (Version 11.3.7) are lost when the plots are copied into a Word 2004 for Mac (Version 11.3.8) document. I am running Leopard (OS10.5.1), on an iMac. The same thing happens with plots made with AppleWorks (6): the tick marks are lost when copying the plots into Word.

Are you pasting as an embedded Excel item or are you doing
PasteSpecial/Picture?
