Why do you believe the database is "getting too large"?
Have you already made a backup, then used Compact & Repair? (where you find
this depends on which version of Access, unmentioned in your post).
"Remove any files" doesn't really make sense if you're describing an Access
database, which is a single file. Are you saying you are trying to remove
records from tables in an Access database?
Disk storage is CHEAP! Even if a record was not updated, what will you do
if you need to look up historical information the day after you delete
records?
If you want to make a "snapshot" copy of the current state of your database,
make a backup copy using Windows Explorer.
