Tif signatures placed in PPT file disappear

When I place Tif signatures in a PPT slide, and save said slide, the signatures do not show up when I open the file later. When I highlight the space where the signature should be, there is a bounding box, just no signature. When I use jpeg signatures I have no problems?
Why?

Hi,

There is, unfortunately, a lot of proprietary offshoots to the TIFF
format. If the file was created with some wacky TIFF format that you
need a particular codec for then it might not work in PowerPoint.

This raises the question, what software created the TIFF file and what
settings were used?
