Tiff files in Powerpoint 2003

Has anyone else had the following experience? I took some pictures in tiff
format. They looked fine as thumbnails in windows. They also looked fine
when I open them in powerpoint. However, when I close powerpoint and save it
and then reopen pp at a later time the slide with the tiff format is almost
completely black. The same thing happens if I convert the tiff files into
jpg or png before I import them into pp. What gives? Is there a specific
setting in the tiff file that I need to adjust?? I am totally confused.

Thanks for your help. That sounds exactly like the problem. Tom
