TIFF import to Access, post update

have a 2000 format db running in Access 2003 that will not
import TIFF images. error message says "doesn't support,
or is too large. try converting to bmp or gif". this
error occurred AFTER, i believe, updating office/windows
with either the most recent version of GDI+ or the
newest .NET service pack. TIFF import works in all OTHER
office2003 applications.

any thoughts?
