time delay when opening doc from server

I have winxp and officexp on my computer. Server has
Win2000. Sometimes when I try to open a doc from server,
it takes up to 3 min to open (doc is only some kb).
Sometime a message appears "word couldn't be closed
because of an open dialogbox" (I didn't choose "Close").
Clients with Win2000 don't have this problem, other WinXP
Clients discovered this problems, too. I've already
changed my network-components. Don't think it is a network
problem.
Other problem with WinXP: files that were changed with
WordXP are still in use when Word is closed (files
couldn't be renamed or deleted). Solution is to restart
the XP Client.

Any idea?

This sounds like the SMB Signing issue caused by Windows 2000 Server SP3.
You need to either disable SMB signing or install SP4 for Windows 2000
Server.
