Time Line as an object in a form/report

I am trying to create a graphic time line for a form and a report, in
15-minute intervals. This time line will track scheduled hours for an
employee and any breaks he/she gets during the day.

So for example, if the work day starts at 8:00am and ends at 8:00pm, I would
like to display (from left to right) a horizontal line or bar that is filled
in with one color for work time and another color (or a break in the line or
bar) for any breaks such as lunch (kind of like a Gantt bar).

So far, I have thought of creating this form/report as a pivot table or
create a report based on a crosstab query. Another method would be to create
the "Gantt" bar a simple line made up of minus signs ("---") for work time
and ("xxx") for non-work time (so 1980s of me). Is there another/better way?

Thanks in advance for any tips/ideas/solutions.

Thank you. I actually found that sample db after I posted the question -
very helpful. One question about the sample db...What is the "report column"
field used for? I thought it was for placement on the final report (which
report?), but the values in the field are a bit misleading.

But in any case, thank you.

One last thing - if I'm using your doctor/patient example, what's the best
way to color in the boxes for different patients?

Not sure whether you found your answer or not. I hope so since you didn't
provide any specifications regarding how you determine the colors.

The message is accurate. The Height + Top properties of the Task text box
push the bottom of the control below the section height. You must do
something to correct this.
