Time Sheet approval

Hi,
In our organization, we've allowed the Team Leads, the Time Sheet approval
permission. Now whenever a Team Member fills up his/her time sheet, the Team
Lead receives the notification and well as the PM. Only the PM can UPDATE the
time sheets, and TL can ACCEPT/REJECT tasks for a time sheet. But how would
the PM now that the TL has accepted or rejected the task? or even the TL has
seen this Time Sheet or not ?
Looking forward.

Regards,
Haris

Timesheet approval is a parallel process that has NO effect on the task
updating process. TS approval is just a way to keep records of whether or
not a resource's timesheet has been reviewed and "approved" by someone.

So, whether or not a timesheet is approved, it is up to the project
manager(s) to approve or reject the time reported against assignments in
project(s).

Thanks for the response Reid. But if thats the process, what difference would
the TL's approval make? I mean would the PM be able to see whether the TL has
seen/accepted or rejected the Tasks in the TM's Time sheet ? or even the TM
would know that the time sheet taks has been accepted/rejected by the TL? If
not then how and where is the record of TL's acceptance/rejection kept?
Looking forward.

Haris

The PM will only see timesheets for approval specific to tasks in their
project plan whereas the TL will see a complete timesheet of all work
performed during the reporting period. I recommend that the PM approves first
because the TL will get the benefit of seeing whether the PM has approved
time on their project. PM Accept? will be set to "Approved". The TL can
review and approve timesheets before the PM but the "PM Accept?" indicator
will be blank so the TL will lose this valuable guide. Either the PM or the
TL can reject a timesheet but as Reid identified, only the approval by the PM
actuall causes a plan to be updated.
