time sheet

Hello,
Is it possible to autorize users to modify the date of a task from project
Server time sheet view ?
A ressource can modify the work completed on a task but he can't move a task
to another day.

thanks

No, team members are not allowed to change the start date of a task in their
timesheet in PWA. The best you can do is to include the Actual Start and
Actual Finish fields to the list of Published fields in each project. To do
so, open a project and do the following:

1. Click Tools - Customize - Published Fields
2. Add the Actual Start and Actual Finish fields to the list on the right
3. Select each of these two fields and select the "Let resource change
field" option
4. Click OK
5. Click Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments and click OK

In addition to the above steps, your Project Server administrator will need
to modify the Timesheet view to include these two fields. With these two
additional fields on the timesheet, users can enter an Actual Start date and
Actual Finish date to allow them to give date sensitive information about
their project task work. Hope this helps.

You mention that team members are not allowed to change the start date, but
what about the finish date?

Only if you include the Actual Finish field in the list of published
projects.

Seems strange. Wouldn't you want resources to be able to indicate that the
task is n't going to be completed on schedule? They can indicate that the #f
of hours remaining has increased by 1000, but they can't indicate when the
new completion date is...

Adding Actual Finish doesn't help, because that field shouldn't be modified
until the task is actually completed.

What you say is entirely true. To work around this situation, we generally
recommend that team members edit the Remaining Work field to show a
potential late finish date, and to add a Note to the task assignment to give
the reason for the late finish. Hope this helps.
