Time stamping notes

JAID

If One Note is going to be a tool used constantly through my working day, I will need to be able to time/date stamp individual notes.

I can see that creating a new page for every entry does that. That seems like overkill to me however as pages can be used better for higher level subdivision of information. Many notes (of calls for example) are short and can be stashed with many others

I have tried about every microsoft date/time entry I can think of (as in excel, notepad etc) without success. Surely there must be a key combination or code which will type in the date and time at entry as this would greatly extend use of the utility.

Thank You.

JAID,
One of the added features in the SP1 Preview is the ability to add a date
stamp anywhere on a page. IF you are using this version, do an ALT-SHIFT-F.

You can get the preview from Microsoft at URL:

For more information on the other additions I really love in the new
version, see this article from my site:

JAID,
While it might be the worlds most elegent solution to your problem, you
can always just click the microphone button to start a recording the then
stop it, you will get the date/time stamp in this format.

Audio recording started: 7:31 PM Saturday, May 08, 2004

Thank you Kathy and Ted
I had not browsed around sufficiently to come across the preview but have it now. How about the microphone approach. I had used it a couple times but had not twigged to use of that as a solution

Thank

Well, I wouldn't use that if you have the preview, which has the feature you
want (Alt-Shift-F). The audio recording tool creates little audio files on
your HD every time you use it this way, and in the future we may make it
easy to see which pages have audio recordings, so you wouldn't want these
bogus ones to clutter up your list of real audio recordings, etc.
