time "units" in Enterprise Global

B

BTOjohn

Dear All,

A quick question. I have gone into Tools\Options\Edit in the Enterprise
Global, and changed "View Options for time units in..." to 'd' instead of
'day'. I then saved and closed down the EG and closed down MSP. On reopening
MSP this change is not reflected in any projects that I open, which still
display 'day' rather than 'd'. Am I missing a trick?

Cheers,

John

The Enterprise Global is not designed to work the way you think. Instead,
the Enterprise Global file controls only two things in the Project Server
environment:

1. It is your organization's "library" of enterprise Views, Tables,
Filters, Groups, Fields, etc.

2. It sets your organization's default currency.

That's it. If you want to change the time units settings, you and your
project managers must do this in every CURRENT project. If you (and they)
click the Set as Default button after setting up the first project, you will
set these time units for all FUTURE projects as well. In addition, you as
the Project Server administrator should make these settings in each
enterprise project template in your organization as well. Hope this helps.

John:

That information is not stored in the Enterprise Global. It's stored in the
local mpt. When you click Set as Default button, it makes it the default for
your local copy of Project.

Thank you Gary (and Dale). Its these little nuggets of information that are
so invaluable to pick up at this forum.
