I often create calendar events that will take place in the future, in
different time zones. In addition, I use a Palm OS device, Teo 600 in this
case.
I need to turn off Entourages behavior where it updates the times of an
event based on current local time zone. With this feature turned ON,
multiple entries in are created on my Palm, and then copied back to
Entourage.
For example. While in Los Angeles, I schedule an appointment that will take
place in New York at 3:00pm EST. Prior to using Entourage (a long time
Palm desktop user) I would simply enter this into my calendar as a 3pm
event.
Now I have a dilemma. I can enter it in Entourage as 3pm, and set the time
zone to EST. In my Calendar, this will then show up as 12:00pm noon since
the Time Zone on my Powerbook is set to PST. If I hot sync my Palm, the
Palm accepts a meeting with a start time of 12:00pm. Remember, my meeting
is actually at 3pm in New York.
Then I fly to New York, changing the Time Zone on my computer to reflect
EST. I work for a few days and hot sync my Palm. In Entourage, the
appointment I had previously created now shows the correct 3pm in the
calendar view. But my Palm still shows a noon appointment. So when I hot
sync, the Palm PUSHES the 12:00 appointment to Entourage and now I have 2
appointments in Entourage. Hot sync a third time and Entourage gives back
the 3pm to the Palm so that it too has both times showing.
SO, HOW DO I TURN OFF THIS FEATURE OF UPDATING THE TIME BASED ON TIME ZONES?
I have become a fan of Entourage in every way except this feature.
Thanks so much for any help. If you don't mind, please also reply to my
email, (e-mail address removed).
