in OL '07, what - if any - is the effect on my appointments of 'swapping' my
time zones (options, calendar options, time zone, swap time zones)?
specifically, does it change appointments which were originally entered
without a specific time zone (as in, there is the option of specifying a time
zone when entering the appointment, but I only use it when I want to avoid
calculating a conference call from a different time zone, and just enter the
timing of such call/appt in the destination time zone). Do the appointments
that were entered previously get updated to the time zone to which I swap, or
is it a visual tool for showing the two time zones that I have, catered to
whatever the preferred 'primary' time zone is? This is different, if I
understand correctly, from changing my time zone, which actually shifts my
appointments.
I ask because I know that once long ago (in prior versions of OL, before you
could actually specify per-appointment time zones), I did a switch of time
zones on my computer to get it to show me local time on a business trip, but
I didn't update my phone's time zone, and when my appointments synched to my
phone, they were all shifted to the wrong time (as if they were at the same
number - 5pm - but because they had shifted in the computer to another time
zone, they showed up in the phone's home time zone as being one hour off of
where they should have been).
hope that makes sense and someone can help me understand impact of swapping
time zones.
